MainOne Increases Data Center Presence In Cote d’Ivoire

MainOne, a prominent West African provider of connectivity and data center solutions, has recently expanded its open-access, carrier-neutral Data Center, AB1.2, to meet Uptime Tier III standards in VITIB, Grand Bassam, Cote d’Ivoire. This strategic move underscores MainOne’s commitment, alongside Equinix, to consistently deliver top-tier connectivity, colocation, and interconnection services in the region since the introduction of its submarine cable and the initial data center in 2019.

The expansion aims to facilitate digital transformation, encourage innovation, and meet the growing demand for efficient data processing, storage, and connectivity in Cote d’Ivoire and the broader Francophone West Africa region. Etienne Kouadio Doh, the Country Manager of MainOne in Cote d’Ivoire, emphasized the significance of the new data center in propelling businesses into a transformative phase. He highlighted the exceptional opportunity for customers to join the company’s robust digital ecosystem, interconnected with key digital players in the region, and providing uninterrupted internet connectivity.

Doh further stated, “We anticipate that this cutting-edge facility will act as a catalyst for digital innovation, providing resilient infrastructure for enterprises to thrive, and solidifying Cote d’Ivoire’s position as the digital hub for Francophone West Africa.”

The expansion also provides an avenue to accommodate a greater number of customers in Cote d’Ivoire, offering them a comprehensive range of enterprise-grade digital solutions with access to global services and internet exchanges, including the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) hosted within the data center. The advanced infrastructure ensures the implementation of robust security systems, state-of-the-art technologies, global certifications, local expert support, and the region’s most extensive interconnected ecosystem, guaranteeing optimal performance.

Following the acquisition of MainOne by Equinix, customers will have the opportunity to access more than 240 data centers in 32 countries worldwide, benefiting from secure and dedicated interconnection services through the Equinix platform at the data center.
