Verve, the payment cards and digital tokens brand, has launched the first line of its credit cards in partnership with Sterling Bank, an innovative Nigerian bank, as part of an effort to ensure the provision of seamless, innovative payment options.
Naira-denominated cards are now offered in two categories: Ultra Bronze and Ultra Ruby. These cards aim to provide Nigerians with flexible access to funds, along with a revolving line of credit.
Additional features of these cards include convenient repayment options, contactless payment capabilities, a 45-day interest-free period, and the flexibility to use the cards across cities nationwide at various payment terminals and locations. These cards are also valid for a period of 3 years.
This partnership signifies another significant achievement in Verve’s journey as a payment brand dedicated to enhancing the lives of Africans, one card at a time. It underscores their commitment to deepening financial inclusion and facilitating access to credit in collaboration with card issuers.
Commenting on this partnership, Vincent Ogbunude, the Managing Director of Interswitch Paytoken (Verve), emphasized that this collaboration reflects Verve’s commitment to providing cardholders with an improved quality of life.
Ogbunude added, “Navigating the credit system in Nigeria can be complex, and our goal with this partnership is to fulfill our promise of delivering Verve’s signature good life experience by simplifying access to credit for everyday purchases.”
“We are excited to have partnered with Sterling Bank on this journey,” Ogbunude continued, “as it aligns with our shared objective of forming strategic alliances to enhance the financial experience of the average Nigerian by boosting their purchasing power.”
During the launch event, Mustapha Otaru, the Chief Product Officer at Sterling, highlighted, “Our collaboration with Verve perfectly aligns with Sterling’s mission to create solutions that enhance value delivery to our valued customers. The Specta Ultra Card issued on the Verve platform streamlines access to credit for customers with diverse income levels and spending requirements. This reaffirms our commitment to delivering innovative financial solutions and access for everyone.”

With acceptance in over 185 countries worldwide and a substantial number of tokens, Verve cardholders can count on gaining access to innovative products and solutions that prioritize convenience and security.
