Chevron Collaborates With Tethys For Domestic Lubricants Manufacturing

Chevron Brands International LLC and Tethys Ltd Forge Partnership for Local Lubricants Production and Distribution

In a joint statement, Chevron Brands International LLC and Tethys Ltd announced the signing of a Branded Business Development Agreement, facilitating the local manufacturing, distribution, and promotion of Texaco®-branded lubricants in Nigeria.

The collaboration aims to provide Nigerian motorists with access to a diverse selection of locally blended Texaco-branded premium performance automotive and industrial lubricants, encompassing the Texaco, Havoline, and Delo brands. This product range will include engine oils, transmission fluids, gear oils, greases, and hydraulic fluids.

Pat McCloud, General Manager of Chevron Europe Finished Lubricants, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Tethys, highlighting their expertise in marketing within Nigeria. He emphasized, “Texaco’s legacy in Nigeria dates back several decades. Through this strategic collaboration, consumers in Nigeria can anticipate the availability of top-quality Texaco-branded lubricants. Together, we are dedicated to adapting and growing to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of Nigerian consumers.”

Habib Bello, Managing Director of Tethys Ltd, emphasized that the exclusive brand licensee status for Texaco-branded lubricants in Nigeria underscores the company’s commitment to delivering premium lubricant solutions that enhance the performance and longevity of vehicles and equipment across the country. Bello added, “Tethys is devoted to introducing Texaco-branded lubricants to customers nationwide through an expansive distribution network. This collaboration is mutually beneficial for our customers and the nation, and we look forward to reinstating Texaco-branded lubricants as a household name in Nigeria.”

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, Nigeria expended N71.6 billion on lubricant imports in the first quarter of 2021.
